  • Age: 21
  • Name: Sherrazi Band
  • Talent: Urban New Wave Trio
  • Bio:

“We’re going to take over the land, make people believe in real music, We want everyone to get butterflies in their stomachs like we do every time that bass note drops.” (Sherrazi)
Sherrazi are a Birmingham based trio driven by their multicultural surroundings, inspired to create a new revolutionary sound. These three young but mature connected souls create a soothing but powerful impact on listeners.
Meeting each other at Access to Music College, Birmingham, Sherelle Kerry and Azizi were already a close threesome and decided to jam together musically as they stumbled upon a shared energy and a mysterious sound, while experimenting with their first cover song ‘Twice’ By Little Dragon. A definite bond and passion for music was one of the many reasons why making music together came easily. On stage they synchronise, playing together with heartfelt grooves and creative melodic arrangements, with a real stream of consciousness intertwined with imagination lyrically portrayed.
Azizi Cole (Drums and percussion) – Both parents are very musical; his Father being a DJ and percussion player, and his Mother playing various instruments when she was in school. Azizi was taught how to dance at the age of four making this one of the reasons he fell in love with music. Every lesson there would be percussion players creating the music he danced to. After experimenting with various instruments Azizi found his natural strengths and passion playing the drum kit having regular lessons at school as well as some private lessons. Azizi has had a lot of experience performing with many bands in many fantastic venues such as Symphony Hall and Birmingham Town Hall.
Sherelle Myers-(Singer/songwriter/guitar) – Coming from a musical background of singers and musicians on her Mother’s side Sherelle has always enjoyed singing. Growing up she sang with her older sister and auditioned for school plays, finding it only natural and exciting to be in the limelight. Sherelle always loved music sharing this passion with her Father who then exposed to her Hip Hop artists such as Tupac. Sherelle went on to study music at having singing and joining the school choir, taking part in amazing opportunities such as Sky 1′s television series ‘Grease the school musical’. She would go on to write songs without music eventually developing an eclectic taste for music.
Kerry Johnson – (keys/singer/songwriter) Growing up in a multi-cultural town, she found herself listening to a range of different music. Always enjoying music she began singing and was determined to accompany herself with an instrument (keys). Having found the other members of Sherrazi, first being friends she enjoyed associating with them and was able to find a musical connection in order to create the bands unique sound.
Some of Sherrazi’s influences collectively consist of inspirational unique/underground/dub/Jazz sounding groups such as ‘Little Dragon’ ‘Submotion Orchestra’ ‘Cinematic Ochestra’ ‘Andreya Triana’ ‘Ghostpoet’ and ‘James Blake’
Sherrazi continue to slow down tempos and create a mist with their sounds, playing more local shows plus entering competitions, winning the opportunity to play Bass Festival 2011 and support one of their inspirations ‘Ghostpoet’.
