Talent is a dynamic and innovative youth & entertainment project aimed at improving the life chances of young people in the West Midlands. It is an annual project funded by the Big Lottery Fund and run by Aspire4u CIC.
Project participants receive expert tuition in the form of master classes and workshops from a team of industry experts. Areas include choreography, fashion design, vocal coaching, music industries and much more.
Following the tuition participants have the opportunity to showcase their talents at the annual Talent finale extravaganza and compete for the title of Talent of that year. They perform before their peers and a hand-picked industry panel for a chance to win an exciting array of industry prizes.
Categories in the competition include: vocal, dance, fashion design, modelling and lyrical.
All participants are featured on the talent project website.
‘TALENT’ began in 2004 as an event designed to bring together young people from across Birmingham and provide them with an opportunity to showcase their TALENT. It has developed significantly over the years from a one off event to an annual project and showcase.
The first ever talent event was held in 2004 at the Drum Arts Centre in Aston Birmingham. Over 250 people attended and the event sold out. In subsequent years the Talent events have been held at The Alexandra Theatre and the Adrian Boult Conservatoire. These events have consistently been successful with numbers increasing year on year from 250 to 550 people.
The Talent project is run by Aspire4u CIC. Aspire4u CIC is a Community Interest Company based in Digbeth, Birmingham and is run by social entrepreneur Daniella Genas who started the organisation in 2007.
